VIRGÍNIA BRITO – SOLO SHOW
23 JUL – 4 SET | MOSTEIRO DE TIBÃES
I believe in the particular as means to the collective. The earth and the instinct as the creative drive.
Achieving whole truths by meanings of private, smaller, quieter ones. It’s a loud, flashy world out there. Can we look past that?

This project is called “InConectos”, and it proposes a detailed study of the way we, humans, integrate our own realities. Our communication with earth. With each other. With ourselves. The wholeness of the Soul and its partitions. The bits and pieces we rejoice in naming and twisting.
I wish to find a perspective where time is diffuse and concepts are not. There’s a hunt for key elements. For the kind of underlying humanization that exists in every endeavor. For the universal feeling of a question, of a place, or project, or a collective.
The Exhibition
A contrast that implies connection. Or maybe just different points of view over the same thing.
The individual as a starting point. Personality as a colourful topping on life.

The relational. As a consequence. Almost.

An exhibition that is also a journey. From the individual and it’s multitudes. From portraits that are in fact moods and landscapes with personalities. To relational pieces. Human connection in its utter most paradoxal form – including what remains when the multuitude of selves quietes down.

Faceless creatures with closed eyes, broken bodies and whole souls.
Only to spiral back (or maybe front) to the same quiet understanding of self.
This exhibition is a soul’s journey. Perhaps not forward. A spiral movement of concepts.

“Oil painting, mostly figurative, displaying the quality and technic associated with realism, executed in a contemporary language, suggestive and exquisite. From the study of light to the exploration of patterns and textures, the artist binds languages in an organic and suggestive way, with the sensibility of a painter from our time.”
